Palestinians prefer a coalition government over new elections
A majority of Palestinians don't think new elections are the solution
to the political crisis between Fatah and the Hamas government.
More than half of those asked in an opinion poll conducted by Fafo
november 25ts to december 5th, say that they would prefer a new
national unity coalition government over new elections. The suggestion
of new elections received the support of one in five. At the same
time, confidence that the sitting Hamas government can solve the
crisis alone is very low.
The poll data provides little grounds to believe elections would
solve the present crisis. The same balance of support was found
in the poll for Fatah and Hamas as before the last elections in
January 2006.

African
Guerrillas: Raging Against the Machine
07.11.2006
Fafo's senior Africa researcher, Morten Bøås, has co-authored
and -edited this new book from Lynne Rienner Publishers. At the
center of many of Africa's violent conflicts are movements that
do not seem to fit any established theories of armed resistance.
African Guerrillas offers new models for understanding these movements,
eschewing one-dimensional explanations.

In a Festschrift to previous bishop Rosemarie Köhn, published
at Pax, Fafo's senior researchers have two contributions. Gudmund
Hernes writes about "Det lykkelige valg - The happy choice",
while Arne Grønningsæter has written an article (that
also is the title of the book) about the conflict on homosexuals
in the Norwegian Church.
