Gaza after the invasion: Prospects for Palestinian politics

The current situation and future prospects for Fatah, Hamas and Israel was the subject at a Fafo breakfast seminar 28th January 2009.

Israel’s invasion of Gaza December 2008 and January 2009 left most of the social and institutional infrastructure in shambles. The question raised at the seminar: what are the political consequences of the invasion? Before the war, Hamas and Fatah were locked in bitter conflict, unwilling to start talking about coexistence, let alone cooperation. Did the war affect the relations between them?
