Fatah after the Conference:
Prospects for Palestinian politics
was the subject at a Fafo breakfast seminar 23rd October 2009
Palestinian politics is in turmoil after the PA’s flip-flop on the Goldstone report. Reconciliation talks between Fatah and Hamas are at risk. Peace talks are stalled. Fatah concluded its first party conference in 20 years in August, but what, if anything, has changed? Did Abu Mazen secure his position in the summer only to put a question mark over his leadership in the autumn? This was discussed at the breakfast-seminar. The discussion focused on the politics within Fatah after the party conference and how recent events have affected Palestinian politics in general. Presentation by the independent analyst and Fafo Associate Mouin Rabbani, comments by Mark Taylor at Fafo
