Peace and security in Northern Mali
This project proposes to analyse the current situation in Northern Mali, both in terms of local challenges to peace and security as well as the relationship between contemporary events in Northern Mali and ongoing processes in neighbouring countries. We will investigate the relationship between the state and the population in Northern Mali and between pastoralist and sedentary population groups, as well as the relationship between different armed groups in Northern Mali and the Sahel, and betwee n local populations and Islamist organisations. The project will result in a report mapping conflict structures, patterns and networks, offering policy recommendations for how stakeholders can best intervene to support dialogue, peace and security.
