Pil New Security Programme (NSP) conducts research into the social conditions - both global and local - of insecurity, conflict and war. The objective of the NSP is to assist in global efforts to improve security for affected populations through research and policy formulation activities in the areas of social and economic living conditions and responses to conflict.

Pil Business and International Crimes intends to promote the systematic identification and strengthening of existing criminal law norms and practices in order to deter illicit economic exploitation in repressive or war-torn countries.

Pil MICROCON, or ‘A Micro Level Analysis of Violent Conflict’ is a five-year research programme funded by the European Commission, which takes an innovative micro level, multidisciplinary approach to the study of the conflict cycle.
