Living Conditions and AdaptationFafo Institute for Applied International Studies has a long tradition in conducting research on peoples’ living conditions. We work in Africa, China, the Middle East, India, Europe and Haiti. The approach is both quantitative and qualitative. Our methods include large scale household surveys, medium-sized multi topic surveys, public opinion polls, a variety of methods to reach rare and elusive population groups both for both quantitative and qualitative data production, and qualitative methods. We strive to collect data that are both relevant for policy makers, and keep a high academic standard. Many of our studies have been conducted in very difficult field situations, such as in conflict zones and in the aftermath of natural disasters. The Living Conditions and Adaptation group includes topical experts on development economics, migration, nutrition, health and environment, as well as area experts on China, the Middle East and Africa.
