The Middle East

 

Fafo started it's research activities in the Middle East at the end of the 1980's. Still today, a substantial part of the Institute's total activities are found in this region. An array of issues have been studied, like mapping of living conditions, demography, impact of structural adjustment programs, poverty, the Israeli-Arab conflict, the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Palestinian refugees. In the late 1990's some North-African countries were added to the list of countries where Fafo works, and this also added themes like child labor, household income and expenditure.

Fafo has its offices for the Palestinian Areas in Bethlehem and Gaza City.
