Lebanon

In Lebanon, Fafo has conducted a study of living conditions among Palestinian refugees living in camps and in camp-like areas ("gatherings"). We have also contributed to other surveys of living standards among the Lebanese population.

Utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methods, our two most recent studies concentrate on (1) the Palestinian refugees and their relationship to the Lebanese and local, Palestinian labour market (the refugee camps), and (2) assessing the socio-economic situation of and identifying realistic targets for camp improvement in Ein El-Hilweh refugee camp.

We have provided analytical assistance to UNRWA and the ILO and published a report that portrays the situation of the Palestinian refugees displaced from the Nahr El-Bared refugee camp upon the halt of hostilities. The survey on which the report builds was conducted during the period 17-29 August 2007.
