The Price for Isolating Hamas

Since the mid-nineties, support to the Palestinian Authorities has been the most important form of aid from the international society to uphold political stability in the West Bank and on the Gaza strip. The suspension of this aid radically undermines the political and economical status quo. By pushing the Palestinian Authority to the verge of financial collapse, the suspension of aid by the EU and the US removes the basis for economic and political stability – without offering a real alternative.

In a series of seminars and newspaper articles Fafo's Middle East experts have analyzed the consequences of the election victory by Hamas. (When the entry is in Norwegian, the article will be in Norwegian as well.)
