Living conditions among Palestinian refugees in Syria |
||
|
This project documents the living conditions of Palestinian refugees residing in the refugee camps and "gatherings" in Syria. It complements the studies done on Palestinian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon, applying the same research methodology. Local adaptations were made following consultations with the General Authority for Palestinian Refugees in the Syrian Arab Republic (GAPAR), the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), Syria, and UNRWA-Syria. The PCBS carried out the fieldwork interviewing 4,930 households during the months of July, August and early September 2001, and was responsible for data processing. Fafo provided technical assistance during all stages, including training of staff for fieldwork and data entry. Fafo is responsible for data analysis. Statistics from this study is also being used in the project on UNRWA's Financial Crisis and Socio-economic Condition of Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and the West Bank and Gaza. The project was funded by Norway. Results |
