Haiti Living Condition Survey

The Haiti Living Condition Survey is a multi-topic national household survey commissioned by the UNDP with funding from the Norwegian Foreign Ministry. The survey is implemented by the Haitian statistical office, the Institut Haitien de Statistique et d'Informatique (IHSI), in collaboration with Fafo.

The purpose of the survey is to establish a baseline of development indicators on topics such as housing and infrastructure, demography, education, labour force, health, household in come, aspects of domestic and public life, and agriculture. An important additional objective is to reinforce the capacity of the national statistical office to collect and analyse household data required for planning the country's development strategies and monitoring progress.

Fieldwork was implemented during 2001 and a first version of the database was established in March 2002. The tabulation report was published by the IHSI in July 2003, and an analytical report is forthcoming. You are welcome to contact the involved researchers on the mail-addresses indicated below.
