Enterprise development studies

The research covers the themes of enterprise development and organisational innovation in both the public and private sectors. The activities aim to contribute to resolving the ongoing organisational challenges in Norwegian corporate and public sector environments. Part of the research is network-oriented, designing learning processes across companies.

Key research topics

• Researcher support in enterprise development
This work includes on-site research support for enterprise development, as well as evaluations, analysis, and data gathering for understanding and supporting such processes. Key emphasis is put on engaging employees and shop floor stewards, and facilitating their dialogue with management in the development processes. The research is designed to fulfill the information and analysis needs of both management and employees, and provide space for dialogue between the two groups.

• Workplace surveys
Workplace surveys are either incorporated into larger enterprise restructuring processes or completed as stand-alone projects. The surveys are completed anonymously.

• Lean Construction
We study challenges created by the combination of unique products, complex production, and provisional systems of production in trades such as shipbuilding, construction, and engineering. We possess a special competence in Lean Construction, a development and improvement tool specially adapted to this type of production.

• Corporate governance in relation to workplace governance
We study how the Nordic model of workplace governance accommodates and relates to new global trends in corporate governance. Do global trends change or adapt to the tradition of employee involvement in Nordic workplace governance?
