European Trade Union Institute ETUI is an important hub in the evolving networks of researchers and practitioners engaged in the development of European labour markets, industrial relations, and social policies. The institute organizes studies, conferences and seminars in a broad range of areas relevant to trade unions and the social partners and publishes a large number of books, reports, journals and policy briefs. 

ETUI also publishes the magazine Transfer where Fafo researchers repeatedly have been coordinators for the topic numbers. Among other things, Line Eldring with a number of service-mobility and Jon Erik Dølvik the private service.

ETUIs site contains lots of useful information and links to nearly all relevant sources that are necessary for those who want to stay updated on the European labor and social policy. ETUI is a small institute with fifteen researchers, but includes two other union-related institutions under the same superstructure: Besides the research unit, ETUI now also comprises EUTCs engaged in training and education of European trade unionists, and  in EUTB, that engages in the development of health and safety-policies in Europe.

Fafo has since the 1980s benefited from close cooperation with the ETUI and stands as the largest in this group of institutes. The network provides an opportunity for contact and cooperation with many of the leading European researchers in our areas.

Fafo is also participating in the TURI, is a formalized network of institutes working on labour research, organized by ETUI and the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung. The network organizes gatherings and coordinate or develop projects.
