The Nordic models: Weathering the storm?

The purpose of the seminar was to highlight similarities and differences in the development of the Nordic models, with particular emphasis on the effects of the economic crisis that has hit the Nordic countries quite differently.

Will the Nordic model be able to work through the crisis, as it did in the nineties, or do we face a break? 

In Denmark, Finland and Sweden, unemployment has increased significantly, while Norway has fared better. The governments are of different colors and have different relationships with the EU and the Euro, we have also seen different political-economic responses to the crisis, including monetary policy, tax, unemployment insurance and association. The countries also have various schemes to prevent social dumping and discrimination of migrant workers. How have these and other differences affected the development of collective bargaining, employer strategies and trade union strength?Is the Nordic countries about to go their separate ways in, or are common features still prominent?
