Fafo lecture: Professor Raymond Apthorpe:

Towards humanitarian impact assessments; principles and consequences of international humanitarian engagement

Professor Apthorpe gave a lecture on the ethics of international humanitarian engagement, in light of ideal principles, and outcomes (both positive and negative) from Humanitarian Action. What can be learned about the actual outcomes from current and previous interventions?

The lecture took place at Fafo, 20 January 2005.

Professor Apthorpe, Australian National University (International Relations) and SOAS (Social Anthropology and Sociology, UK), has long been one of the leading scholars examining the policies and practices of humanitarian and development assistance, including extensive involvement with evaluations of a large humanitarian programmes.
