Labour migration

The Eastern enlargements of EU in 2004 kick started a new phase in the Norwegian working life. In recent years, we have experienced an unparalleled labour and service mobility to Norway. Whereas in 2004 less than 7000 Eastern Europeans was residing in Norway, this number had increased to almost 160 000 in 2014. In the same period, labour migration from western EU countries was also doubled. In addition, a large number of posted workers and service providers stay for shorter term periods.
