INFOVOLD: Bedre informasjon – raskere vei til hjelp

INFOVOLD aims to ensure better information about violence and negative social control for those who come to Norway through family immigration.

Many immigrants that arrived through family reunification lack an overview of their own rights, and where they can get help if they experience violence and negative social control. Information exists but is difficult to find and understand.

Many family reunifications do not necessarily follow the same paths as other immigrants (introduction programme, courses and/or language training). Thus, they do not always partake in the established meeting places where important information is often conveyed.

At the same time, there is variation in how municipal and national services identify, inform and follow up people that arrive through family immigration. They may constitute a particularly vulnerable group because they lack social networks in Norway and may be both legally and financially dependent on the person with whom they have been reunited.

Accessibility is not only about language, but also about who provides information, and when and where it is disseminated. We examine what is important to know, which messages that resonate, who is the best communicator, and which channels different parts of the target group trust and use.

From insights to action

Based on the findings, the project will develop targeted information measures. It can be short and precise texts, simple visual explanations and talking points that clarify what should be said, when it should be said and where.

Form and language are adjusted to situations and target groups, with an emphasis on multilingualism, clear references to specific services and practical feasibility of the services.

Three partners

The project is carried out by Fafo, Comte Bureau and Vi er OSS in close cooperation. We build on complementary strengths and develop solutions together.

  • Fafo contributes with social science methodology, thematic knowledge about migration, violence and management.
  • Comte contributes with user insight, language and content and visual design for good accessibility across channels and languages.
  • We are OSS contribute with experience-based target group understanding, culture- and language-sensitive dissemination and networks into affected environments.

The goal is clear: The right information, to the right person, at the right time – so that more people find help earlier and more safely, and the services can more easily inform and refer safely.
