How are LGBTQ+ employees experiencing working life in Norway today, and how do trade union representatives and employers address issues related to gender and sexual diversity? In this project, Fafo examines how the working conditions of LGBTQ+ employees are handled in the labour market, with a particular focus on guidelines and the experiences of trade union representatives.
The project is based on a need for more knowledge about LGBTQ+ people’s experiences and how working life in Norway addresses their working conditions.
Using data from LO’s trade union representative panel, Fafo examines how relevant these issues are in trade union work, which guidelines and tools are in place at workplaces, and the extent to which discrimination or unwanted incidents related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression are reported.
The study provides new insights into how working life works to include LGBTQ+ employees, as well as the challenges and opportunities for improvement that exist.
