Right to disconnect

The overarching purpose of the project is to gather knowledge about the situation in the Norwegian working life regarding employees' right to disconnect.

"The right to disconnect" is related to ongoing discussions and regulatory developments in the EU and refers to an employee's right to be able to disengage from work and refrain from engaging in work-related electronic communication, such as email or other messages, outside of working hours.

A comprehensive survey will be conducted to assess the scope and consequences for individual employees in various professions and industries.

The project will address issues within four main areas:

  • The extent of employees' contact with and attachment to work outside of regular working hours
  • Potential consequences for employees
  • Regulations
  • Employers' perspectives
