Syrian refugees in Lebanon are currently under intense pressure to return to Syria. A prolonged political and financial crisis was exacerbated by the Port of Beirut explosion, the covid 19 epidemic and the global food crisis, to produce a plummeting of the Lebanese economy of a brutality that is normally only associated with conflicts or wars. In this situation, the large number of Syrian refugees are particularly vulnerable and have become scapegoats in a populist political discourse.
