The project aims to reduce youth exclusion by identifying what actually works to help more young people aged 16 to 29 enter employment or education. Through mapping, testing, and evaluation, the project examines local working methods and collaboration models between Nav, employers, and the education sector – with the goal of developing more targeted and integrated services for young people at risk of marginalisation.
Fafo is a subcontractor in this project which aims to reduce youth exclusion by developing and sharing knowledge on how Nav and its partners can best help more young people enter employment, activity, and education. The main objective is to identify and document local working methods and collaboration models that are effective, and to assess how these can be tested and implemented in other parts of the Nav system.
The background for the project is the government’s goal of strengthening efforts to combat youth exclusion through the development of more tailored and employment-oriented services for young people.
The research focuses on two main areas:
- Developing models for qualification and inclusion in the workplace – targeting young people who are unable to complete ordinary educational pathways, by providing training and qualification directly in cooperation with employers. These models involve close collaboration with employers, using the workplace as an arena for inclusion.
- Collaboration with relevant local actors to prevent dropout and reintegrate young people into upper secondary education, where Nav and the county authorities work together to find better ways to identify and support young people in vulnerable transitions.
Both development areas target young people aged 16 to 29 and form part of Nav’s broader youth initiative.
Through systematic mapping, testing, and evaluation, the project will build a knowledge base for more targeted and effective services to help more young people into work and education.
